Civil Law

Civil Law governs the legal relationships between individuals and legal entities, as well as their rights, obligations, and responsibilities within the private sphere. It encompasses a wide range of matters related to contracts, contractual and non-contractual obligations, civil liability, debt collection, damages and compensation claims, property rights, and other civil disputes.

This area includes the drafting, review, and interpretation of various types of contracts, including purchase and sale agreements, service agreements, professional services contracts, lease agreements, private arrangements, and other legal acts that create rights and obligations between the parties.

In Costa Rica, Civil Law is primarily governed by the Civil Code, and matters relating to this area are handled within the civil jurisdiction.
