Civil Law

Civil law is the set of laws that protect the private relationships of each person in a country, from the moment of birth until death. These laws are in charge of protecting the relationships within the family, the rights of each person, the obligations, and acts that have to do with the property of each person, for example, contracts of sale & purchase, and marriages. Civil law in Costa Rica is governed by the Civil Code and the Civil Procedural Code, which is processed in the civil courts or in the Courts.
